When we first saw home we just purchased we had been very impressed by the gorgeous travertine inlaid with granite kitchen area floor plus the travertine spa/shower. Having moved in today the very first blush is wearing down and I also'm racking your brains on simple tips to clean all of this stone.
I got a non surfactant spray cleaner for the granite countertop (woman at store said only use water and detergent and save the squirt for company!!). Now about all this work travertine - how worldwide do I clean the shower stall? The wall space are travertine plus the floors is a rougher stone. I am guessing all the regular cleaners are out - and such a thing with vinegar on it. I look over that changing to fluid soap with reduce detergent scum?? okay great but We still have to clean it. Any suggestions?
Additionally i've a bissell vapor mop I became planning to make use of on the ground in the kitchen area (travertine with small granite squares with it) and read someplace that vapor will peel off the finish??? Any some ideas concerning this one? TIA

I accustomed cleanse a property with a travertine tiled shower. The property owner insisted that i take advantage of a vinegar/water mixture. It cleaned pretty well, plus it did not seem to trigger any harm.

Travertine is simply a calcium/lime based product rendering it basic. Any utilization of acid will etch it. May possibly not instantly be noticed when making use of a weak soultion but with time it will probably show. The most obvious indication of etching is that the travertine will entice more soil and continue maintaining a "dirtier" appearance from grime engaging in the gently etched areas.

I'm a lapidary (stone-cutter) and Dawn fluid is something we swear by whenever cleansing (washing) stones of types including sensetive precious stones such as for instance opals and pearls. It is extremely moderate and removes grease/oils and dirt quite well.

Discovered a Travertine/Marble cleaning answer at Bed Bath and Beyond. Havent attempted it however - says to dilute with tepid water initially so is going quite a distance.
